Dear Mom and Dad,               Wednesday 11-17 [1971]

I'm glad to hear the play has gone well so far. lots of nice things have been happening from the way it sounds. Mrs. Goodman is better now. That's good. I guess it doesn't mean she will stay better, but it can be hoped for.

I've told Mr. Eddinger that I'm going to work Tues. (that is the 23rd) so if you are planning to come up [at all] don't come up until 3:30 pm. Will it work out that you can make it, Dad or Mom, to pick me up. Picking me up is less expensive than for me to have a car and only make one trip each time (either home or up here).

I haven't done my Shakespeare paper yet, but I've started writing on Shakespeare's use of fools in his plays. I can develop a pretty simplified formula for whether or not there will be a fool in the play by knowing only certain things about the play. If there are witches, fairies, or a soothsayer or such in a play there will be no fool or clown. Also if the play is about the history of Kings or rulers

(plays of well known history) there will be no fools. Hamlet is one play that is hard to classify. It has 2 clowns (gravediggers). Hamlet is a prince - pretty close to being a King. There is a ghost (somewhat supernatural like witches or fairies) in Hamlet. Clowns then almost seem not to fit in Hamlet but they are there. They play a very small part though.

I finished my psychology lab report that is due tomorrow. Now I have to study for the psychology test that will be Friday. One thing after another. Then I have to finish my Shakespeare report.

I better start studying.

Love,

Mike

P.S. I've run out of small envelopes as is evidenced by my use of the large one. Ha.
