Dear Mom and Dad, March 3, 1971
What's it snowing like? Its snowing like shhh! Yesterday it was semi-warm and the little snow that fell melted as it hit the ground. I still can't realize that it is snowing; I've been walking around with a T-shirt and a light jacket all day. I overheard on comment: "He must really be in shape." Although I have a very slight sore throat. Two days ago and for at least 2 days before that it was beautiful. No snow, no rain and it was warm enough to melt all the snow except a very (insignificant amount) little bit. If it had kept up it would have been the end of the skiing season, yes. But now with heavy snow warnings for Scranton - Wilkes Barre and 6 inches on its way here (we have at least 3-4 inches now), there will be millions of happy skiers out skiing. Talk about Baltimore and its weather conditions and high humidity. Williamsport is weather. Strange anyway.
Put lettuce or other greens (vegetables) in with the silver dollar (Metynnis schreitmulleri) and he might not eat any more grass than he has to.
I've made $30.80 over my W/S [Work Study] grant and was paid. Now I can only work on Saturdays from 7:00 to 3:30 because of a shortage in the budget. I can make a possible (approx.) $130.00 by the end of the year. I will also have more time to spend on studies during the week. Track should keep me busy most of the rest of the time.
Three good movies next week. "Charley" (free) Monday at 8:00pm, "Viva Max" Thursday at 4:00 and 9:00pm, and "The Graduate" 7 & 9:30pm. Saturday.
Had a Phil. of Science test Monday. Had to make own ques. up and write on it. Not so much a memorization of the text material but to bring out some of own ideas. I asked myself "Why can't animals reason?", and wrote 5+ pages (one side of sheet of paper) in my usual

large handwriting (this is my unusual small handwriting of course). It's probably equivalent to 2 1/2 pages at the most if I wrote it this small.
I wrote a letter about the Mandatory Chapel program last night to the board of directors and turned it into the SUB desk this morning.
Had a lab test Monday. Have a Bio test (on lecture and text material) Friday.
The Arena Theatre is putting on "A funny thing happened on the way to the Forum" this and next weekend. They haven't had much time to prepare for it (maybe 4 weeks). Might and might not work out.
Snow is coming down just as steady as ever. I Don't know what that orange stuff is. Must be fungus because it couldn't be algea. Must not be a disease organism. Not immediately harmful to fish. Do as you're doing; what you can. I will attend to it when I'm home.
MAC's this weekend. Dave will be gone starting tomorrow afternoon until late sat. night. Then at 2:00 am after sleeping in at the Teakhouse he'll have a meeting there. He's pledging TKE.
I'm not pledging any frat. My going out for track is good enough for me. Other sports would be nice too. I hope to next year.
Love,
Mike
