Dear Mom and Dad, 2-12-74 Tuesday
I was in organic lab almost 9 hrs today. I went to lab right after breakfast and now its almost time for supper. At least I got some product (we were to synthesize an organic product) and I have a general feeling of accomplishment. I guess the more time one spends with something the more it sinks in (not the chemicals but rather the knowledge-facts).
I just read about your nice weekend in your letters. Sounded great especially the food!
We didn't get any of that snow you got last weekend. We've had flurries though through the weekend and right now it is surprisingly warm (compared especially to last night and yesterday teens-20's). Must be around 50° now.
There was a small explosion in the boiler room Sunday night. No harm was done outside the boiler room. There was just a little excitement for Sunday night.
Its nice to know that you called, Dad. I was watching Kung Fu around the time you called. (I hadn't seen the show for a long time so I decided to watch it.) There was no note under the door and you're right I don't look at the black board very often. Someone told me I had had a call but they didn't say who it was or what it was about. I figured it was unimportant. At least I didn't worry about it. Yes I had the "birthday" party but it was more of just a get together party with friends & acquaintances than my birthday party.
There was a dance marathon here last weekend some couples danced the full time (with short breaks) of 27 hrs. and the winning couple was Mark Davies & Linda Klein (they had the most votes. Mark lives on my floor (3rd) and was one who went to Bermuda.
Experimental psych is not quite as much work at the time as is organic. I enjoy it as I did physiological psych (same prof and some of the same material. Something new though is psychophysics, a type of scaling of psychological perception.
The shirts (sweater like) you got me, Mom, are allright. I haven't had that

much of a chance to wear them but I'm sure they'll come in handy.
Oh, I got a 77 on my last organic test-not as good as I'd like to do.
Life's not so bad as it sometimes seems. Does that make sense? (Is it logical?) I'm not sure how logical it is but it makes sense to me right now.
Spring recess is not far off. March 1 a friday is when it starts and is over Sunday March 10. I hope that one or both of you can make it up here that Friday.
