Kindex

Dear Mom and Dad,            5-15-73

I'm here, though its hard to believe.

The plane ride was a little turbulent at times, but not too bad. Strange feeling to fly.

This must be a British domain (Their flag & the way the people talk.)

One drives on the left side of the road here. Hard to get used to. "All" foreign (small) cars. We all rented motorbikes yesterday. Small and easy to operate. Its the only way we'll be able to get around on the island. There aren't too many very high hills here, but there are some.

The airport is right across from the Bio Station. An inlet separates the two. Noisy at times.

The water is a very distinct color. It is a very green blue-green in the shallows and is dark blue in deeper parts.

Mail has to be sent airmail to get anywhere fast. If not it doesn't make it for a couple of weeks.

Many different trees and other plants (flowers too).

Some of us explored the island a little yesterday. We'll have some more time to do that kind of thing today.

Lecture will be at 9:00 am. Labs in the afternoon. And driving in the afternoon.

Wish you could see the place.

Love, Mike
