Dear Mom & Dad,                      Dec. 13th [1972]

Tuesday will be all right. You can pick me up then. Anytime during the day.

I just got my Shakespeare paper back today. | D. | I've gotten in the habit of not organizing my papers and of using "excessive verbosity (BS)", Sawyer. In Shakespeare (the course) I also have a B on a test. The B and D average out to a C. In Medieval Mind I still have only one mark (D-). I didn't get the Medieval Mind paper back in time to learn what I was doing wrong in writing my papers. So my Shakespeare paper suffered the same consequenses as my Medieval paper. I'm hoping I learned my lesson in time to do well on my second paper in Med. M. I spent a good deal of time on it. (Saturday night for 5 hours then Monday whenever I had spare time, which was whenever I didn't have classes and before I went to bed at about 10:00pm.

Thank you for the "Happy Birthday." I got three letters today to cheer me up. Tom sent a big "HAPPY BIRTHDAY." I didn't send to him. I appreciate everybody's letter.

I didn't tell anybody it was my birthday Sat. but somebody knew it anyway. After I sat down a supper

Curt Swaggler from the next table turned around and reached out to shake my hand. I was glad to shake his hand but it wasn't evident to me at the time why he did it. He said, "It's your birthday today isn't it," and I said that it was and he and the rest of the guys said "Happy Birthday." "Thanks" I say but I was still a little bewildered but didn't pursue the task of finding how they found out.

That was a nice surprise and it cheered me up that night so I could happily get some studying done.

That's what I've got to do right now, so bye.

Love,

 Mike

P.S. I'll find something to do while here before you come up on Tuesday.

P.S.S. I've just found out that my last test in Shakespeare is optional (I don't have to take it). My Psyche test is on Friday (17th) instead of Monday (20th). Can you make it up here at 3:00 on... No forget it I'd better stay to take the Shakespeare test on Monday and try for a B in that course. See you Tuesday.
