Kindex

Dear Mom and Dad,             Sunday Jan. 10 [1971]

Thanks for sending up uncle Bob's address.

I've finished my philosophy paper, typed and all. Got an A on the English paper. I think this must be Dr. Sawyer's (English teacher) first year.

Things may seem pretty good here, but I don't want to be here. All I'm doing is working. Not a whole lot of time for friendships. The vacation does a great deal of good. So I'm back here studying and not having so much fun.

I saw a movie put on by the college "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" with Paul Newman staring. It was pretty funny. It had a violent ending though. The whole thing was really kind of violent and kinda bizarre.

There are more conveniences at home.

It has been a little too cold to run the last few mornings. When I get home I will try to do some walking or running. I could probably do some walking here, but I've lost incentive or motive for now. It's hard to relax here (do things you want to do). I find it hard to relax when eating. You have to wait so long in line too.

These are just trivial complaints. I'm just a little homesick right now. It must be thoughts of making transitions piled on thoughts of tests and the little need for going to many of the classes these weeks. They have proposed a new calendar for next year. One that will combine Christmas vacation and semester break. It will probably be better.

Love,

Mike
