Jean Out doors. eating now

much stronger myself.

M. had lady guests who

all sat & chatted in their

overcoats until nearly 10 p.m.

I conversed with Chang

Chin Yu of Chianghechuang

He seems to be quite enthus

-iastic over Christianity & is

very anxious for his boys to

get an education & work for

the Lord. He hinself went

to SHK to Study the Bible.

Thos his mother accused him of

deserting the family. He opened

the Bible to the plan about

the marriage feast & next to

This one about not giving up

family not being worthy.

Wrote a brief letter home.

Also one to N. Woodward &

Costello Disk. & to Han

Shan Feng a scorcher.

Auntie Dyer left for Peking

& Mrs Lawrence Tristain

Potts returned from a week

and in Shanhaichuran.

Chang Ching Ching washed

windows. He is a fine lad.

First wife died, took opium

because of the Tyranny of her Mother-

in Law. when engaged again. He

said he would not subject another

wife to his mother's cruelty. His

bro's wife is half starving on the

Nearby village rather than

submit to bad treatment by her

mother in law.
